Blackpool Civic Trust

About Us, The Committee, Contacts and Membership

The Blackpool Civic Trust was formed in February 1975 to encourage and support the town of Blackpool and its people. Our objectives and aims are to stimulate a sense of Civic Pride to promote high standards of planning and architecture and to secure the preservation, protection and improvement of features of historical or public interest.

We welcome new members and visitors to our monthly meetings.

Blackpool Civic Trust Members visit the new tram depot

The Trust is a non-political, non-sectarian organization serving only the interests of the people. Throughout the year we make numerous visits to places of interest and have a wide variety of talks covering the history and future development of Blackpool. We have been instrumental in many varied projects throughout our short history.

The Trust keeps an eye on Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas maintaining an interest in areas relevant to Blackpool's status as a premier resort. The Blackpool Civic Trust initiated the forming of the Friends of Stanley Park - the first parks' Friends group in the town.

It is a grassroots member of the former National Civic Trust and now also of the new national Civic Voice. It is part of both the North West Association of Civic Trusts and Societies (NWacts) as well as the Lancashire Federation of Civic Societies.

Our meetings are held on the third Monday of every month at 7.00pm. Non-members are welcome.

The venue will be announced nearer the date.

We have entertaining guest speakers and members can take part in our visits and specially hosted tours of local venues.

We also have a Corporate Membership for companies and organisations who wish to support our activities and Blackpool's heritage. Where-ever possible we make use of Corporate Members products or services and promote them.

Every year we hold an awards ceremony for local people and organisations, and the owners, designers and builders of places providing a major contribution to Blackpool's civic pride.
